Heparin, often referred to as unfractionated heparin, is a rather rapidly acting anticoagulant, that occurs naturally in our bodies as a macromolecule, called glycosaminoglycan, that is produced by basophils and mast cells.

Its therapeutic action is to prevent the formation of clots in the blood and limit the extension of previously formed clots. Heparin is most commonly used in the treatment of hemostatic disorders, where there is a formation of unwanted clots within the blood.

Such disorders may include pulmonary embolism, acute myocardial infarction, deep vein thrombosis, and acute ischemic stroke. It is also used in test tubes to prevent the formation of clots in the collected blood samples, before blood tests and kidney dialysis machines.

Herceptin, also known as Trastuzumab, is a cancer medication that stops and controls the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Herceptin is a part of a class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies which also include gemtuzumab ozogamicin and rituximab. Herceptin is used in the first stage of breast cancer together with the standard breast cancer chemotherapy.

It is used to treat breast cancer that has metastasized and has moved further away from the breast and helps to prevent the return of breast cancer. Research has shown that Herceptin can increase survival rates in both first and last-stage breast cancer. Herceptin, when used with chemotherapy, has improved survival rates in breast cancer patients from 75 percent to 84 percent.

Humira, also known as Adalimumab, is a prescription medication that is used to treat the symptoms of mild to severe rheumatoid arthritis. Human Monoclonal Antibody In Rheumatoid Arthritis or Humira can be combined with methotrexate and other various medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
