Common side effects of Ramipril (Altace)

Ramipril, also known as Altace is part of a class of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme or ACE inhibitors. It is used for heart failure and high blood pressure and can also prevent further strokes, heart, or kidney failure caused by diabetes or high blood pressure.
Ramipril can also improve survival rates in people who have already had a heart attack. Ramipril is available in the form of tablets, capsules, and a liquid. Benazepril, moexipril, quinapril, fosinopril, lisinopril, and trandolapril are also examples of ACE inhibitors.
Ramipril works by relaxing arteries and blood vessels to allow blood to flow more easily. It is to be taken either once or twice a day, depending on your prescribed dosage and can be taken with food or on an empty stomach as well.
